Upcomming stuff

Hi everyone,

Besides getting ready for the holiday season, there is a lot of exciting stuff comming up this year. At LVPA the guitar and jazz studies dept. is putting on a concert of contemporary holiday music apart from the more formal music dept. Productions. "A Festivus for the Rest of Us" will be Monday, Dec. 21st 7:30pm in the Black Box Theater and will feature the guitar, jazz and vocal students as well as a few suprise faculty tunes. It promises to be a great show and a cool way to kick off the holiday vacation.

Saturday January 9th, The quartet performs at Godfrey Daniels the great Bethlehem listening club. Starting at 8pm, I'll be joined by Greg Eicher - bass, Greg Edwards - woodwinds, and Gary Rissmiller - drums. I've played this venue twice and it has sold out, so please get your tickets early and often!

On March 8th I will be kicking off the Berks Jazz Fest.It is the Guitar Summit and I'm joined with Bucky Pizzarelli and Howard Alden ( pretty good guitar summit, huh?) along with Mr. Eicher and Mr. Rissmiller on bass and drums respectfully. The venue is the Jazz Base club at the Windham Hotel in Reading.

So things are popping!
The best of the season to you and yours,
Frank

At the Sands Casino, bethlehem.Pa

Hi everyone ! I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving. I recently performed a solo gig at the Sands Casino in Bethlehem, Pa. It was an interesting experience to say the least.Four hours of solo guitar is a long time to play but four hour playing against piped in muzac, ambient casino noise, Pa annoucements and a very loud dance/club band on the other side of the building is nothing short of combat training for musicians! The crowd was very supportive and appreciative of my music in contrast to the indifference exhibited by the "Entertainment" staff who, for the most part, were more interested in the number of asses in the seats than they were in providing customer service even though said asses were in those seats because I was performing!!I bring all of this up as a learning experience to those of you aspireing to become professional players. The lesson here is to do the gig as best you can in spite of the situaton and take solace in the fact that someone will appreciate your talents. Always play your best game and if can touch even just one person, it makes it all worthwhile..... not to mention the exhorbitant fee I charged them.
