Fostering Peace and Understanding through Music

LVPA’s Jazz Ambassadors, our premier Jazz Combo, travels to Slovenia this September as Bethlehem Ambassadors to sister city, Merska Sobota. Master jazz guitarist and faculty member Dr. Frank DiBussolo and six students will JAZZ up this small European country with performances of good old American Jazz.

Why Slovenia?

Bethlehem and Slovenia have a long and happy relationship beginning in the 19th century when the Slovenian people settled in Bethlehem to work in the Bethlehem Steel factories. Known as the “Windish”, this community still has strong ties with Merska Sobota and helped establish the Sister City relationship between the two cities. LVPA was invited to represent Bethlehem in a youth exchange with Merksa Sobota’s Gymnasium (high school), currently celebrating their 90th anniversary.
